Paris Saint-Germain took a major step closer to winning the French league as they defeated Nice with a clear 3-0 win at home yesterday. After Jérémy Ménez gave the home side the lead after ten minutes Zlatan Ibrahimovic extended the lead by scoring on his penalty in the middle of the second half. Ibrahimovic hit a hard ball in Nice goalkeeper right corner next to the post. Thus he took revenge on the missed penalty kick against Evian on Wednesday, which cost PSG advancement in the French Cup.
Clément Chantome put the final result to 3-0 just before full time. This means PSG now have a nine-point lead and PSG can secure the league title already in two weeks when meeting Valenciennes at home.
– We’re almost there, but it lacks a little bit still. It feels great after all the work you put in, all the sacrifices. That’s why I’m here, to win trophies, says Zlatan Ibrahimovic after the game.
Zlatan also said he understands the fans’ disappointment after the match in the French Cup earlier in the week.
– All titles are important. I think I speak for everyone on the team when I say we want to win it all. That’s our mentality. We have played many games this year, some players are not accustomed to it, but that’s no excuse. I have no good excuse and no bad either, says Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
Zlatan also had more to say about Juventus rumors and the alleged interest in him before the summer transfer market.
– I have a contract with Paris Saint-Germain. If it is true that Juventus are interested, it is an honor, it’s a great club that I already represented. They have a great team and an awesome projects in the works, but I belong to Paris. We still have five games left to play and hopefully we will be champions and then I’m gonna take a long vacation because I need it, says Ibrahimovic.
This weekend agent Mino Raiola told the newspaper Le Parisien that the starting point is that Zlatan Ibrahimovic will remain in Paris, but things may change if PSG’s focus changed, or if they, for example, change coach. Juventus sporting director Giuseppe Marotta said this weekend that the club is not prepared to offer players contracts with salaries as high as Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s salary in PSG.
